VII photojournalists interpret one word.
How will you?

The photographers at VII are always on assignment, usually documenting a story that revolves around an issue, crisis or war. But for this project we challenged them with a different kind of assignment: to visualize a single abstract word and show us their interpretation through the unique perspective of their lenses.

Now, we challenge you with the same. It isn't as simple as it seems. These world-class professionals said it pushed them to think differently even as they had fun with it. Let their images inspire your vision and lead your lens.

Feel free to get as creative or as literal as you want. It's your perspective, after all. If your entry is selected, your work will be exhibited right here alongside the pros!

VII GALLERY PHOTO SUBMISSION TERMS & CONDITIONS

Open only to legal U.S. residents residing in the 50 U.S. States or District of Columbia, 18 years or older (age determined as of 3/31/2011). This service provides you with an opportunity to share and upload, or submit certain content (collectively any submission or derivative thereof is referred to as "Content") in accordance with the submission guidelines (see below).

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Please remember, all submissions will be screened and will not be considered for inclusion in the VII Gallery unless they meet all of the following guidelines:

  1. No profanity or vulgarity.
  2. No politically or racially controversial images (no depiction of violence or hatred).
  3. No religious images.
  4. No copyrighted images (this includes landmarks, sculptures, paintings).
  5. No brand names, logos or signs.
  6. No advertising or self-promotion (this includes personal information).
  7. No celebrity images.

You hereby grant Canon a perpetual license to use, redact, republish, copy, sell, distribute, perform and distribute your Content and associated information, including any intellectual property contained therein, in any medium now known or hereinafter developed without payment or compensation to you and without seeking any further approval from you. Canon may further use your name, likeness, publicly accessible biographical data and any other information in connection with such use of the Content. You acknowledge that our use of your Content may include licensing such Content to third parties and/or using such Content for advertising and marketing purposes. The purposes may include, but are not limited to TV commercials, print ads, online video, banner advertisements, and display on a website. However, you understand that any use is at Canon's sole discretion and that Canon is not obligated to use Content in any way. In no event shall Canon be required to seek your approval or provide you with any compensation in connection with such uses.
